Bad Writing Due to No Professional Editor. What is "Whence" I ask? (F Grade)
By Katie Babs
This Beautiful Thing (Young Love #1) by Amanda Heath has a sexy, eye catching cover, interesting blurb and has been in Amazon's top 100 romance for weeks now. This Beautiful Thing should be titled- This Beautiful Trainwreck of Horrible Writing. Another case of a self published book with no editing to speak of. It makes me wonder if the author has any real basic writing skills because the amount of misspellings, lack of punctuation or incorrect punctuation placement is beyond glaring and ridiculous.
Not even three pages in, I read this- "She squeals in my ear and I whence."
What is a "whence"?
Also, commas can be a writer's friend. This author apparently doesn't like commas. Example:
"What the f_ _k Declan." Ahem, should have a comma before Declan.
Sentences that make no sense based on a word that makes no sense, including run-on sentences thanks to the word, "and":
"I feel him tense above me AND his movements get jerkier AND then he's kissing my lips as I shallow his yell of pleasure."
What is "shallow his yell of pleasure"?
If an author can't use a professional editor, why would I want to finish a book, let alone spend my money on it that has far too many editorial and grammar errors to count? You insult your readers by not having a professional editor. Sloppy AND poor writing AND not worth the money for this shoddy put together book. I can't believe a writer would publish this and not be embarrassed.

Can we please get an editor in here?
By Angeleen Fraser
Cute characters and their story is a good one...but oh my gosh, typos! Prefect v. Perfect, where v. were, forgot v. forget...the list, unfortunately, goes on. Clearly, this is a self-published book. I completely support that, since I'm also a self-published author...BUT, I'm also a stickler for grammar and spelling, and I am also fortunate to have a select group of people with degrees in English to proof my stuff.
Keep writing, Amanda, because you DO have something here. I'm not trying to tear you down. It's because I care and support what you're doing that I'm harsh.

Had Great Potential
By avid.reader.131
I wanted to enjoy this book. Really, I did.
I even did, in the beginning. But then the writing slowly started to change. There were more and more typos and grammatical errors, and the writing began to feel stilted and overly dramatic. The characters became harder to sympathize with because their emotions were not realistically described. I lost interest in what was happening to them and had to power through to the end of the novel. I actually enjoyed the secondary characters more than Declan and Teagan because I didn't view those characters' emotions through dramatic yet stilted prose from the internal monologues I suffered through with the main characters.
Would I read it again? No
Would I recommend it to a friend? No
