He's also the brother of the most famous Wizard in all of Noram, and leaving home for the first time. Things don't go as planned, since his missing brother has managed to throw both blessings and curses into his life just by existing.
It isn't easy living in the shadow of someone that great, but the world is about to see that Timon Baker isn't just "Tor the lesser" but a power in his own right.
Because Timon isn't just some school boy, he's a person that understands the world around him, and how to shape it to his own desires.
And in the end, anyone that chooses him for an enemy will learn that it was a very bad idea indeed.

People have asked: Why Timon?
The answer is a lot more complex than can be expressed in a short statement, but the answer is pretty straightforward if I strip away all the trappings around it.
He's awesome, that's why!
He's the character that I always wanted to be, in the deep (and slightly twisted) recesses of my heart.
This book is designed to stand alone at the beginning of this arc. You can pick it up and read it without having to go through the six books that make up Tor's story so far! I recommend it in fact. Of course, I wrote it, so take that for what it's worth, but I have a very good feeling about this one.
Next up will be Teira, and if you read carefully, you should be able to tell (a tiny bit) what might happen. There will be twists, but hey, this is from me, so what do you expect?
Please enjoy the book and stay tuned for more!

About the Author
In every moment of history there are people that come into your life for various reasons. Some to learn from you, some to teach. Others are there simply to provide entertainment, or even simple fascination.
I've long held that people don't really want to know too much about the authors that they're working with, (and I do believe that each story has two main components, the writer and the reader. Each person has a unique view of the world they're exploring and pretending that there is one ultimate authority is a bit silly) and instead want to imagine the person on the other side of the page in the most comfortable way for themselves.
But I'm not here for your comfort. I'm here to help entertain and possibly do some of that teaching and learning I was going on about above.

Only Five Stars
By Gene C. Evans
Warning: this book's protagonist is twelve but this is not a young adult book. Don't give it to twelve year olds.
What to say about Timon? He is a standup guy. He takes care of people, but unlike his brother Tim is not self destructive about it. People love Tor but they respect Timon.
Despite his youth important people listen to him, because he sees things they miss and is three steps ahead of everyone else. He is not infallible but he is very, very, smart.
Timon is also tough-minded and at need ruthless. If he were Han Solo he wouldn't wait long enough for who shot first to be in question. Threatening his friends is dangerous.
If you have been waiting for a male P.S. Power character who is not weak, jerky, clueless, ineffectual, emotionally crippled, or totally lame when dealing with females, Timon's your man. So he's five-two and has just turned twelve. Nobody's perfect, and both of these things will change.
As this is the first book in his arc the story is more about setting plot lines up than resolving them. Still, there is drama aplenty and as a bonus we get some answers to questions that have been puzzling readers throughout Tor's arc. Because Tim does not pass through life like Mister Magoo, blind to most of what is going on around him. He sees things.
In the end it isn't the plot that holds your attention, it's the character.
I like him.
A lot.

All ur secrets is Timon's
By mark
Timon, a brilliant child prodigy, must face a world of intrigue and danger while trying to crawl out of his famous brothers shadow. However, while the wizard Tor overcomes each new challenge by creating wondrous magics, Timon deduces secrets the way other people breathe. Nothing is hidden from him and this precocious twelve year old may be the most dangerous person in the world.
The Dark half of the sun is the beginning of a new trilogy set in the world of the young ancients. It serves as an excellent entry point for new readers and a much needed fix (it's addictive!) for fans. As other reviewers have pointed out it is most definitely NOT for young adults.

Great addition to the world
By joshua hough
I very much liked this book. Timon is a strong character, with a personality very distinct from that of the other protagonist in this world, Tor. I like both characters. This book definitely adds a new, and good, perspective to the world. I would recommend it to any fans of the series. I can't really comment on how well it would read as a solo novel, I think it would go over well, however I have read the rest of the books in the series enough times that it's hard to set aside what I know.
