Great series!

Wow, this book has amazing artwork, as always, and the plot only thickens. Plus there is a very big plot twist (which I won't spoil for you) and for anyone who has been thinking that they can just skip this book, or wants to join in the middle of the series, I would suggest buying from the beginning because there are a lot of details that you will miss. But what is good about this book is that it does have a lot of flashback moments in it, so you can jump in here with minimal knowledge about the series itself although I suggest that you start from the beginning.

All in all this is an awesome book and I highly suggest this!

Still exciting ... but starting to drag

My daughter and I have enjoyed reading this manga series of James Patterson's Maximum Ride novels. They are exciting, intriguing, and fun stories about a flock of bird-kids. Their adventures keep me turning the page, the challenges they face keep my heart rate up, and their antics keep me smiling. They are a fascinating group of kids trying to find their way through a very challenging and confusing maze of life.

Just as I found in the novels, however, the story is starting to drag. I'm all for twists and turns and these books offer plenty. Too much, in fact. It is beginning to seem like Mr. Patterson either isn't sure how to end the story or is just wanting to keep milking it for as long as he can. My interest is beginning to wane. Also, the amount of time between releases is too much ... I've forgotten important details as this story is taking a few years to unfold.

Despite the negative paragraph above, I still recommend these stories - either the original novels or these manga versions. They are exciting and interesting - to young and old alike.

weird thing about my kindle...

Okay. I really want to read this book, but my kindle won't let me. Apparently I have to pre-order it becaus it comes out in 2036. I know this isn't right because the seventh book is already out in kindle edition, so something must be up. I just thought you'd like a fair warning. Hope this review helped.

Growing up as a small town Canadian girl, there wasn't much to do but ride your bike, hang out with friends on the beach and daydream. I always wanted to write but never dreamed it was something I could do as a career. I love to travel and fell in love with the sheep covered hillside, old castles and romantic history of Scotland and England. I dream about waking up in Tuscany and touring small town shops in the south of France with my husband, of placing my toes in the ocean and experiencing history first hand. As a mother with three daughters, I'm learning that teaching them to pursue their dreams is a lasting legacy. I love to wake up to the Rocky Mountains, will forever enjoy the taste of coffee and chocolate and can't imagine the day when a story doesn't unfold in my heart. Living a life with passion and pursuing dreams is a life well lived.

A little close to home.

Finding Emma was a hard read for me, not in its structure or prose, but in that I had a daughter abducted myself and it took 31 months to find her. The author had a keen insight into to the daily struggle to survive that this kind of tragedy has on a mother, and a family. I found it fascinating to contemplate the mind set of Emma. I found myself asking if that is what my daughter thought or felt. I had to finish the book, not only because I wanted to know the outcome, but out of respect for the characters of Emma's parents. So although it was a difficult book to read for me personally, it was a very good story. I hope that people reading it will have a new compassion for left behind families of abducted children, no matter the circumstance by which they were abducted, the daily torture is the same.

Emma- You Won't Be Sorry You Looked For Her

Finding Emma was a truly outstanding, character driven story that lingers with you after you finish! I was a little worried about reading it because when the subject matter deals with something awful happening to small children, it isn't always a comfortable read for me. First thing I found was that this was a fictionalized account which instantly made it an easier read for me than if it had been a memoir type of story. I finished this book in one night.

The characters in this book were easy to get to know and truly likeable. No matter how hard you looked there truly weren't any "bad guys" well except for HER (a man hungry lady with her eye on Peter) and she played such a minor role. The main people surrounding Emma were:

Mom- Megan who fell into the depths of despair when she took her eyes off her child for just a few minutes to take a phone call yet would never give up hoping to see Emma again even when it threatened her marriage and family.

Dad- Peter, who wasn't always the most loveable of guys, sometimes non-supportive to the point of almost cruelness, judgmental and apt to freely give ultimatums so he could go on and and continue to live some kind of life. Yet he truly was the rock of the family and in his way was doing his best to hold the family together.

Sister Hannah- a lovely young girl who tried to be an adult and take up the slack when her mom proved incapable after Emma disappeared long before she was ready to partly because she blamed herself for Emma's disappearance..

Sister Alexis- the middle sister who often felt ignored and honestly believed that she might as well have just disappeared on the day Emma did, she felt that invisible.

Dottie (Grandma)- an older woman who upon finding out of the death of her only child snapped and began from that moment to have significant mental & memory loss issues from that day forward.

Jack (Papa)- Just a lovely older grandpa type man who loved his wife, loved his daughter & granddaughter and always tried to do the right thing, but dealing with the unthinkable nearly broke him.

Sherri- the neighbor with the heart of gold who decided to get involved and made the difference.

Detective Riley- the police officer who in the end was the one who believed, took a chance and found the answers.

The plot flowed well from the first page and although I did spot a few grammar/language issues like once peaked was used instead of peeked, they were few and far between and did not detract from the story for me.

If you like a suspenseful book where the lines often get blurred between the good & bad guys, take a chance on Finding Emma. You won't be sorry you looked for her.

Heartwrenching

I had the pleasure of reading an advanced copy of this book.

Four year old Emma goes missing. Her family searches frantically for her but there are no leads. Now Megan, Emma's mother, sees her daughter in every child. More than once she has brought hardship on the family because of mistaken identity. Two years later, and the search is taking its toll on the entire family. Megan's husband and daughters feel like they've not only lost their little sister, but their mother too. But can Megan ever stop searching? And, if she does, will she miss her daughter's face in the crowd?

As a parent, this story stirred some of my deepest fears...the loss of a child. It is poignantly told and had me smiling at times and crying at others. If you enjoy stories about love and family, you will enjoy this story.

About the Author
Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) was one of America's most influential Founding Fathers. He was an author, printer, politician, postmaster, scientist, musician, inventor, statesman, and diplomat. Franklin invented the lightning rod, the Franklin stove, a carriage odometer, and bifocals. He served as President of Pennsylvania (which would be Governor today), United States Minister to France, United States Minister to Sweden, and United States Postmaster General. At 70, he was the oldest signer of the Declaration of Independence. He was a publisher; most famously of Poor Richard's Almanack, which was published from 1732 to 1757. He charted the Gulf Stream in 1770, developed meteorological theories, and, in a letter dated 1772, laid out the earliest known description of a Pro & Con list. Franklin played the violin, harp, and guitar, and was the first chess player known by name in the American colonies. He created one of the first volunteer firefighting companies in America, was instumental in the founding of the University of Pennsylvania, and founded the American Philosophical Society. Franklin biographer Walter Isaacson calls him "the most accomplished American of his age and the most influential in inventing the type of society America would become."

Still going strong...

ORIGINAL REVIEW: 4.5 stars -- AHHHHHH!!!! SON OF A *****! Another cliffhanger. The books in this series are getting better and better. This one was fabulous. Not only did you get some happiness with Mari and Trystan, but so much happened in such a small book. And that ending. GAH! I need the next book, and I sincerely hope there aren't many more, b/c I need closure now now NOW! Anyways, yeah. I really liked that they both have abusive situations at home...I think so many people, including those in the situations, downplay mental/emotional abuse...and Mari is no different. It's kind of nice to see that being addressed. OK, I am somewhat disappointed that I read these now not knowing the series wasn't complete, but I will get over it....someday....I need to start finding *completed* series....

ON REREAD: 4 stars -- I wasn't quite as enamoured as last time apparently. I LOVED that we got to see Mari and Trystan come together, but I was disappointed in the Brie stuff...it felt kind of weird. But I'm still really enjoying watching the two of them navigate their relationship, and holy wow did things escalate at the end!

Loving this young adult series!

I'm definitely hooked! Your really find out what a piece of s**t Trystan's father is in this story and just how physically abusive he is to Trystan. Trystan is the popular guy in school and feels like he has this image to uphold even though his life is falling down around him. Trystan and Mari keep their relationship secret. Also in this story Trystan and Mari form a tighter bond and discover that they're home lives really aren't that different from each other - Trystan is physically abused by his father while Mari's parents verbally abuse her and steal her self-worth. There is still a secret that Trystan is keeping from everyone except Mari and by revealing this secret to the world, it could change his life dramatically. Story is too short - boo - and also ends in a major cliffy!

What's not to love about this?

Finaly...

They finaly reviled ther filing to each other... It was a damn time.. lol
They relatinship realy seemed perfect and all. Mari and Trystan are adorable!

I'm so sad for Trystan. His life seems like a living Hell.. poor thing.. He's so strong and courageous. With dad like his, and everything going in his life he seems to envolve in such an amazing person. Love, music and everything. He's a real survivor, role model for me personaly.

Mari, well, she's another story. He'r parents arent bad like Trystan dad, but.. when someon doesn't show you affection you truly need, it's also horrible, maby even worse than beating.

At the end of the book I was like, NOOOOO, NOOOO... WHAT THE F*** IS THIS!! DON'T END NOW!!

Yeah, there was a lot cursing involved, but you blame it on HM WARD, because I didn't want to finish the book. All in my mind was, how long until next one? I couldn't wait that long. lol

This was like drug to me, and I was like addict on the edge, who urgently need another. dose

Even I was cursing and I was realy angry, lol, this instalment enchanted me more then previous!
