3 Wonderful Holiday Love Stories in the Southwest

3 cute & wonderful love stories that take place in the desert Southwest during the Holidays.

MISTLETOE & HOLLY Not So Perfect Holly, an accontant, is determined to get back with her perfect former roommate, Brad who happens to be an M.D. and perfect. He tells her he needs his own space and left on the night she had planned to seduce him-a new and scary thing for her. She does need someone to share the housepayment with though. Her best friend's cousin Professor Sam is in town for a few months so he moves in -- falls in love with her, tries to get her to loosen-up and give up on Brad. Can he help her see she's already fallen in love with him? Sam's the kinda guy we could all use to help us be happy with what and who we are.

CHRISTMAS HONEYMOON Stacey has to keep peace in the family by going on her cousin's honeymoon to Las Vegas - it's a gift from a favorite aunt but the newlyweds have non-refundable tickets to the Bahamas. Dylan, a friend of the newlyweds, wants to get back together with Stacey so he surprises her by being in Las Vegas too. 6 months ago Stacey was just divorced from a real jerk when she went on a blind date with Dylan but her cousin thought she wasn't ready to date so he stopped calling and Stacey thought he had found someone else. Dylan wants to show Stacey his true self!! Cute story.

A BABY FOR CHRISTMAS

Best Friends and next door neighbors Chloe & Nick have a little too much Kahlua, coffee and sympathy one night after Nick broke up with his latest lover. Nick's a want-to-be inventor and feels he can get this special invention done by Christmas. Nick doesn't remember the night he spent in Chloe's bed but she's pregnant now. She can't tell Nick if he doesn't remember, can she? Nick doesn't understand why the invention takes a backseat to his care of Chloe all these months. Can be get the backers for the invention before the baby comes? Great friends to lovers story!

Im 17% into the book and I keep waiting for it to get better. Maybe it's me, but the novels I'm come across lately just don't hold my interest because the situations and the characters reaction to them just DO NOT make sense. For instance, who in their right mind would go golfing in a sundress and espadrilles? That's exactly what the heroine of this story does in an effort to reclaim a guy that is just not that into her. As a matter if fact he told her that she was predictable and he needed a break because they are not working out. Why is she even trying to convince him to give them another shot anyway?

If the h would stop and do a little self-examination, I think she'd find that she is enamored with the "idea" if this guy and not really in love with him at all. They have nothing in common and there is no chemistry. He seems self absorbed and is very critical of her. He tends to poke fun at her to his friends too. Who does that to the person you're supposed to love?

I'm unsure of how this book was given so many 5 star reviews. I'm going to try to keep reading and hopefully it will get better.

It's not getting any better. Why would the author say that the heroine's feet are freezing in her sandals when she is in Arizona and it's almost noonday?

I couldn't do it. It's so boring. Read at your own risk!!

three fine Yuletide tales

"Mistletoe and Holly". When her boyfriend Brad dumps her because she never does anything spontaneous, accountant Holly thinks he will come to his senses. Meanwhile her best friend arranges for her to share a room in Saguaro Vista with her cousin English Professor Sam as both are visiting for the holidays. Sparks fly between them that could light up all the Christmas trees in the country.

"Christmas Honeymoon". Stacy is upset that her cousin Janie dumped an all expense paid Vegas honeymoon on her, a wedding present from Aunt Gertrude, while the newlyweds sneak off to the Bahamas. The groom Richard has sent his friend Dylan to the same suite at the Atmosphere Hotel. Dylan plans to not screw up this time as he wants his beloved ex-wife back with him forever.

"A Baby for Christmas". For three years Chloe has secretly loved her neighbor and best friend Nick. So when the inventor gets drunk to forget his woes, she takes him home. They sleep together, but he forgets in the morning that they did. Hurt and disappointed Chloe hides the truth even when she realizes she is carrying his baby.

These three Yuletide tales are enjoyable contemporary romances that star wonderful lead protagonists struggling with love once decisions are made that go contrary to forging permanent relationships. Lisa Plumley gifts her fans with early Christmas presents.

Refreshing New Format and Authors for me

This series is beyond good - there is so much depth to the characters and the development of their circumstances - how this changes them, strengthens them and brings them together. You think things are going one way and then it changes - I am currently in Season 3 and don't want to spoil the series - just know that you will be taken on a ride. Some have compared the authors to Stephen King but I believe they are so much better than King. At least for me - King could lose me in his descriptions - they didn't always flow for me and I would get bored or lost and have to re=read pages. Sometimes waiting for a movie to come out so that I could read it later and get the full content being provided. This series is like being on a roller coaster ride - there isn't time to take a breath and it is very hard to put the series down.

I will say that some might find this dark, violent - but it is what it is because it is true to the characters as they are written. I totally recommend you try this series- will be attacking the next series by these authors when I complete this.

Absolutely addicting!

I'm not even gonna attempt to summarize these first two seasons... But if you are looking for an awesome read that combines sci-fi, fantasy, horror maybe, and even a little religion sprinkled in, definitely try this out! And go with both seasons at once because I guarantee once you start reading, you won't want to stop. Then you can go on to season three, and then audibly 'ugh!' when you get to the end as you join the rest of us 'goners' as we anxiously await the arrival of season four. So go ahead and do yourself a favor and start reading yesterday's gone. You're welcome. :)

WORTH IT!

In my opinion, once you start, you are absolutely going to NEED the rest of the series ASAP. So might as well buy it as a collection & save the money in the long run. This series is addictive! It has a great story line AND characters for which one easily starts to feel as good friends. I started this series late 2012 & immediately went through every season to date. I am SO excited that they are about to come out with the next season here shortly & am officially a Goner now! :) I highly recommend this series for ANYone who likes a good science fiction story!

A wonderful addition

Why I give it 4 stars: By removing section headings, verse numbers, returning the Old Testament to the original Hebrew order, and reorganizing the New Testament away from the arbitrary format of longest to shortest Paul books: this Bible has a unique reading flow to it. I, personally, did not realize how influential (and often distracting) verse numbers and section headings/breaks are until getting my hands on this version of the Bible. This format of the Bible has breathed a new life into my walk with the Lord and provides a refreshing perspective on the Good Book.

Why I did not give it 5 stars: This is an NIV translation. While the NIV is certainly more reliable that any paraphrased version of the Bible, I personally prefer the English Standard Version. I am hopeful that Crossways (the publisher of the ESV) will someday realize that there is a market for a Bible without verses and section headings/breaks.
Secondly, I was hoping for a reorganization of the New Testament into chronological order by when the books were written. I understand it would be rather easy to just read them in chronological order, but it would be nice to have them bound in that order for a linear-fluidity. Don't get me wrong though, the way this book has reorganized the New Testament is very purposeful, reverent to the text and ultimately better than the traditional order.

Kindle Text-To-Speech Problems - The Text IS Broken Up With Numbers!

My intent of this review is to save someone a few bucks if they are buying this version for the same reason I did. I love the NIV translation, and I've found that reading the Bible without chapter and verse numbers is a very powerful experience. However, I really bought this edition because I enjoy the Kindle Fire's text-to-speech option, and when listening to other versions of the Bible that have chapter and verse numbers, the constant announcing of those numbers is distracting after a while. But, I should have utilized the "Look Inside" option before I purchased it. There are numbers in the text that link to the chapter's endnotes! Look for yourself...it's especially apparent beginning after when God rested on the seventh day. My apologies if there is some way to get the Kindle to not read the numbers or omit them somehow, but I can't figure out any way. I'm going to buy one of the other translations that advertise unbroken text, but I'll be utilizing the "Look Inside" feature first!

Broadened perspective and better understanding, for me. I have enjoyed reading,

For me, this book helped me have a greater understanding by the way the information was presented. I am not finished with it yet, but enjoy reading it and look forward to completing it as I go along with the Bible. While I like my Reader, I will also purchase this in book form to place on my bookcase with all my other favorite books for comforting access ;) I have found Zondervan to be my favorite writer when it comes to understanding better the Bible and the many references!

John G. Hartness has taken my imagination for a wild dirt bike ride of fast action and silly adventure with one of my new favorite anti-hero's. I enjoy Bubba's unintentional wit and red-neck-hill billy wisdom especially when played off his unlikely supporting side characters. The combination of his odd charm, steely demeanor and southern hick wrapped around his heart of silver reminds me of my Na Na's Bubbly chocolate surprise, and odd sort of country-fied chocolate souffle made with a little liqueur. An excellent long or short ride read that I had trouble putting down to deal with the real world.

For fans of Bubba I feel the need to point out that this latest omnibus contains a rather major shift. The lovable redneck hunting monsters to finance his strip club bar tabs undergoes some rather serious character growth. You'll find out more about Bubba and Skeeter's past which gives new insights into the characters, but the tone becomes more serious in the process.

Not a bad trip down memory lane

As a Victorian Architecture buff, I'm hard pressed to give a distinct verdict on this book. It has great illustrations, offers general plans with dimensions for all of the designs, and gives a down and dirty description of each, but it seems to raise more questions than answers. If you are looking to discover what this type of architecture looked like, both in overall appearance and in selected details, then this is the book for you. If you are looking to discover how these things were built, then you are going to be slightly disappointed.

Victorian House Plans

All in all (in spite of a few frustrating things), it is full of information and will give many hours of pleasure. The first 9 sheets are primarily text (13 pages of text), 13 pages of photos of actual houses (no plans--frustrating), another 10 pages of text, and then finally, 153 pages of floor plans with either elevations or perspectives. If any of the photos of houses at the beginning of the book corresponded to a floor plan later in the book, I was unable to spot it (frustrating). The perspectives and floor plans are in black and white (which is okay) with one house per page (which is good). Frequently a house is given two facing pages; there is a photo of a house on the left and then a perspective drawing of the same house on the facing page (or a perspective drawing on each page, each from a different angle), with the floor plans below (that is fabulous!!!). And, sometimes, there is a perspective (a corner view) on one page and an elevation (straight on view) with a similar floor plan on each page showing two variations on the same house (again, fabulous). Except for showing photos of houses without floor plans, it is an excellent book. Unfortunately, no floor plans for attic rooms were shown, even though it was obvious that there was another floor of bedrooms up there.

Victorian house fans take notice

Here we have another of Dover's reprints of architectural catalogs. This one features Victorian designs by George Barber. At first, I was disappointed because the first few houses were small and plain. They didn't even have indoor bathrooms. However, as the book progressed the designs became larger and more elaborate. In fact, some of the designs were so gingerbreadish that I doubt many of us would want to live in them now, but they are interesting to study. I focused most of my attention on the floor plans, but the text did have a quaint charm. For instance, throughout the book houses and features are described as "tasty." Also, the prices quoted are amazing. $1500 bought quite a nice house back in 1891. Most of the plans are for moderate size homes, with a few smaller and larger sizes mixed in. At the back of the book you will find plans for several gazebos, stables, multi family homes, and even a handful of churches. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and recommend it for all old house enthusists.
